Debate Blocking

Date: Wednesday 16th January 2019

West Midlands MEP, Bill Etheridge, has been asked to leave the chamber at the European parliament in Strasbourg.

During the Brexit debate, he’d put his hand up twice to ask questions, which the chair acknowledged.

He asked if the question would be answered and both times, they refused to answer him.

The Libertarian then stood up, accusing opposing politicians of being cowards and weak.

He was asked to leave the chamber and on the way out was told to go home by an MEP from the Conservative group.

Mr Etheridge, also Libertarian Party UK Deputy Chairman, responded “I am here to represent the people, not to back down.

“The people need to understand what is happening here, these people are blocking debate.”
